Servant Nanak has obtained the eternal marriage. ||4||2||53||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By the destiny written for me, my Beloved has come home to me.

Servant Nanak has found the eternal marriage.

This is the one marriage that never ends — and it came home by grace.
The deeper layer

This one says the soul has found a bond that never ends.

Mastak bhaag mai pir ghar aa-i-aa — "by the destiny written for me, my Beloved has come home." Thir sohaag naanak jan paa-i-aa — "servant Nanak has found the lasting marriage."

The marriage is a picture of the soul joined with the One. Friendships change. Teams break up after the season. People move away. This bond stays. And it came by destiny, which means by grace. The soul did not arrange it with clever plans. The Beloved came home as a gift.

A Question to Sit With

What is a bond in your life you'd want to last forever?
