ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਮ ॥
jo paraanee kaahoo na aavat kaam.
That mortal, who is of no use to anyone at all
ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥
sant parsaad taa ko japee-ai naam. ||3||
- by the Grace of the Saints, he meditates on the Naam. ||3||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The one who is of no use to anyone at all —
by the grace of the Saints, comes to meditate on the Name.
Even the one the world counts useless can be turned toward the One by the Saints' grace.
This one says that even someone who seems to be of no use to anyone is reached by grace.
The verse speaks of a person the world has given up on. Sant parsaad taa ko japee-ai naam — by the kindness of the good and holy people, even that person comes to remember the Name.
No one is too far away. The grace of the Saints finds people others have written off.
Think of a coach who spots the kid everyone thought couldn't play. The coach sees something others missed and helps that kid grow.
A Question to Sit With
Is anyone really beyond the reach of a fresh start?
