Serving the Holy Saints, countless sins are obliterated. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My thirst and the darkness of not-knowing are gone.

Serving the holy, countless sins are wiped away.

Restless craving and inner darkness can lift together, in good company.
The deeper layer

This one says that thirst and darkness inside us lift together in good company.

Mitee ti-aas agi-aan andhayray — my thirst is gone, and so is the darkness of not-knowing. The "thirst" is the restless wanting of more and more. The "darkness" is not seeing what is true.

Both leave at the same time. How? Saadh sayvaa — by serving good and holy people.

Think of a dark room where you are fumbling for a snack. Someone kind switches on the light and hands you a plate. At once you can see, and you are not hungry anymore. Light and being satisfied arrive together in good company.

A Question to Sit With

When has serving others quietly cleared something up inside you?
