Serving the Guru, my mind has become immaculately pure, and I have heard the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have found heavenly peace and immense joy.

Serving the Guru, my mind has become spotless, and I have heard the Name.

Service makes the mind clean enough to finally hear what it was missing.
The deeper layer

This one says that serving makes the mind clean enough to hear the Name.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. It speaks of sookh sahj anand: peace, calm and great joy. These come from serving the Guru.

Gur sayvaa tay bha-ay man nirmal — by serving the Guru, the mind becomes nirmal, which means "spotless." And then the Name is heard.

Think of a video call that keeps freezing. You can't make out the words. When the connection clears, suddenly you hear every word. Serving clears the line, and the mind can finally hear the Name it could not hear before.

A Question to Sit With

What can you only hear once your mind is quiet and clear?
