Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਆਪੇ ਪੇਡੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੀ ਸਾਖ ॥
aapay payd bisthaaree saakh.
He Himself is the tree, and the branches extending out.
ਅਪਨੀ ਖੇਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਰਾਖ ॥੧॥
apnee khaytee aapay raakh. ||1||
He Himself preserves His own crop. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

He Himself is the tree, and the branches reaching out from it.

He Himself protects His own harvest.

The One is the tree and every branch — the source and all that grows from it.
The deeper layer

Radical immanence in an image: the One is "the tree, and the branches extending out" — both the trunk and every limb, the source and all that grows from it. And He "preserves His own crop": the whole of creation is His, and He tends it.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you see one root showing up as many branches?
