Shower Your mercy on me, and keep me safe in Your shelter. Please give me this rosary of the Name.
Even the wish to remember the One is something we ask for.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. The singer prays to the true Guru: keep me safe in Your shelter, and mo ka-o dayh haray har japnee — give me the rosary of the Name.
That is a surprise. You might think we make our own love for the One. Here, even the tools of remembering are a gift. Think of a child asking a parent, "Can you help me learn to pray?" The asking is already the start. The singer asks for two things: shelter, and a way to remember.
