Meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all diseases are destroyed. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

By Your kind mercy, You enter my mind.

When I remember the Name, every disease is destroyed.

When the One moves into the mind, every disease begins to be destroyed.
The deeper layer

This one says that when the One comes into your heart, every sickness inside starts to fade.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Too chit aavahi tayree ma-i-aa — You come into my mind by Your kindness.

Simrat naam sagal rog kha-i-aa — remembering the Name, all sickness is gone. The One living inside is the healer. The Name is spoken of as a medicine that reaches every kind of sickness of the heart, like worry, jealousy and anger.

This is the language of love and prayer. It is not medical advice. When your body is sick, you still go to the doctor. Shabad 123 uses this same picture.

Think of how a hug from someone who loves you can make a bad day feel lighter. The Name is that kind of healing, for the inside.

A Question to Sit With

What would you most want healed from the inside out?
