In plain words

Believing the tree's shade will last forever, he builds his house beneath it.

But the noose of death is already around his neck. And the power of illusion has aimed her arrows at him.

Building your life on what's passing is like making a home in a shifting shade.
The deeper layer

This one is about building on something that will not last.

A man thinks a tree's shade will stay forever. So he builds his house under it. But shade moves and fades within a single day. Think of setting up your picnic in the one shady spot, and then the sun moves.

Still, he bets his whole life on it. And all the while, the noose of death is already around his neck. We pour our lives into things that cannot possibly hold.

A Question to Sit With

What have you treated as permanent that is actually slipping away?
