Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
A person falls in love with it — and the more he has, the more he craves.
It hangs around his neck and will not let go.
But falling at the true Guru's feet, he is saved.
The more you get of it, the more you crave — getting more never closes the gap.
The nature of Maya-craving: "the more he has, the more he longs for more." Acquisition does not satisfy desire; it feeds it. And the craving "hangs around his neck" like a weight he cannot shake — until "falling at the feet of the True Guru, he is saved." Only surrender breaks the loop.
A Question to Sit With
Have you noticed that having more of something can make you want it more, not less?
