Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
She is so beautiful, she captivates the mind; on the road, at the shore, at home, in the forest and the wild, she reaches out and touches us.
She seems so sweet to mind and body —
but by the Guru's grace, I have seen through her deception.
Illusion seems sweet and reaches everywhere — only grace lets you see the deception behind the sweetness.
Maya's reach is total — "on the road, and the beach, at home, in the forest and in the wilderness" — there is nowhere she does not "touch us." And she "seems so sweet" to mind and body; the danger is real precisely because the sweetness is so convincing. Only "by Guru's Grace" is the deception behind the sweetness seen.
A Question to Sit With
Why is something dangerous hardest to resist when it seems so pleasant?
