Illusion Has Helpers; Grace Brings Them Under Control

agrak us kay vaday thagaa-oo.
Her courtiers are also great deceivers.
chhodeh naahee baap na maa-oo.
They do not spare even their fathers or mothers.
maylee apnay un lay baaNDhay.
They have enslaved their companions.
gur kirpaa tay mai saglay saaDhay. ||3||
By Guru's Grace, I have subjugated them all. ||3||

In plain words

Her courtiers, too, are great deceivers; they spare not even father or mother; they have enslaved their own companions.

But by the Guru's grace, I have brought them all under control.

Illusion has helpers — the passions — but grace can bring them all under your control.
The deeper layer

Maya does not act alone — "her courtiers," commonly read as the passions and lures that serve her, are "also great deceivers," sparing no relationship, enslaving even close companions. But the same grace that saw through Maya "subjugates" her courtiers — the deceivers mastered, made to serve rather than rule (cf. Shabad 92, Maya as servant).

A Question to Sit With

Which of the passions most often 'enslaves' the people around you?
