Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
gobind gunee niDhaan gurmukh jaanee-ai.
The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence; He is known only to the Gurmukh.
ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧॥
ho-ay kirpaal da-i-aal har rang maanee-ai. ||1||
When He shows His Mercy and Kindness, we revel in the Lord's Love. ||1||

The Lord of the Universe is the treasure of excellence, known only to the Gurmukh.
When He shows His mercy and kindness, we revel in the Lord's love.
The One is known not by the clever but by the turned heart, and even that is mercy.
The One is "known only to the Gurmukh" — the soul turned toward Him — and even that knowing is by mercy: "when He shows His Mercy... we revel in the Lord's Love." Knowledge of the One is not seized by the clever but given to the turned heart.
