Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
All are servants of the Master, and all call Him their own.
She alone dwells in peace, O Nanak, whom the Lord adorns.
Everyone belongs to the One — but peace comes to the soul the One adorns.
"All are servants... all call Him their own" — everyone belongs to the One. But the soul that truly "dwells in peace" is the one "whom the Lord adorns" — peace, like beauty, is the One's gift, not the soul's doing (cf. Shabad 98, adorned by the Beloved).
A Question to Sit With
What is the difference between claiming the One and being adorned by it?
