Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When the Lord of the Universe became merciful,

I found peace, wealth, and the fruit of the Name; I have met the true Guru.

One mercy is the source of every good reversal.
The deeper layer

All these good changes come from one source: the One's kindness.

This is the Rahao, the "pause" line at the center of the shabad. Ja-o kirpaa gobind bha-ee — when Gobind, the Keeper of the world, became kind. That one moment of kindness is the cause of every change in the shabad.

Then the gifts pour in: peace, inner wealth, the fruit of the Name, and meeting the true Guru. Think of one tap turned on at a garden. The water runs down every row and every plant grows. All the good things come from one flow of mercy.

A Question to Sit With

When did a turn for the better come not from your effort but as a gift?
