Grace Lifts the Outcast Into Someone Everyone Honors

ਮੋਹਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਨਤ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਈ ॥
mohi kirpan ka-o ko-ay na jaanat sagal bhavan pargata-ee.
No one knew me, the miserable miser, but now, I have become famous all over the world.
ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਠਨੋ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਵਤ ਹੁਣਿ ਸਗਲ ਚਰਣ ਸੇਵਈ ॥੨॥
sang baithno kahee na paavat hun sagal charan sayv-ee. ||2||
Before, no one would even sit with me, but now, all worship my feet. ||2||

In plain words

No one knew me, the miserable miser, but now I am known all over the world.

Before, no one would even sit with me; now all worship my feet.

Grace can lift the one no one would sit with into someone everyone honors.
The deeper layer

Grace can lift someone nobody noticed into someone everyone respects.

Mohi kirpan ka-o ko-ay na jaanat — no one knew me, the poor miser. Now I am known all over the world. Once, no one would even sit next to me. Now people bow at my feet.

Picture the kid always picked last for the team. One day the coach sees something good in them, and soon the whole school knows their name. The world's way of ranking people gets turned upside down. Other shabads in this raag tell the same story: the rejected one made honored (Shabad 154), and the orphan made a queen (Shabad 186).

A Question to Sit With

Have you seen the world's judgment of someone completely overturned?
