In plain words

When the Destroyer of the poor's pains becomes merciful, then, as Gurmukh, you find absolute peace.

Says Nanak: meditate on the One, day and night, and all your sickness shall be banished.

The same One whose order runs the cycle is the One whose mercy ends it.
The deeper layer

The same One who set the wheel turning is the kindness that lets us off it.

Deen dukh bhanjan means the Destroyer of the pain of the poor. It is a name for the One who breaks up the sorrow of anyone who feels small and helpless. When that One shows mercy, gur mil sabh sukh laaDhay — you meet the Guru and find every kind of peace.

Then Nanak says: remember the One day and night, and every sickness of the soul is chased away. Think of a doctor who wrote the rules of how the body works. That same doctor also knows the cure. The One who set up the cycle is the One whose mercy ends it. And the Name, remembered with love, is the medicine.

A Question to Sit With

What sickness in you might be banished by turning, day and night, toward the good?
