Meditate in this way, my friends, on the One, the Architect of Destiny.
The Destroyer of the poor's pains has become merciful; He has removed the pains of birth and death.
This is a second pause line, and it seals the cure.
A shabad usually has one Rahao, one "pause" line at its center. This one has a second: rahaa-o doojaa. It tells us how to meditate and what happens when we do. Remember the One, the Maker of Destiny. Bha-i-o kirpaal deen dukh bhanjan — the One who breaks the pain of the poor has become kind. Janam maran dukh laathay — the pain of birth and death is taken away.
Think back to the circle from the earlier lines. Our strongest urges kept the wheel turning. Now the One who built the whole wheel shows mercy, and it stops. Like a parent who lifts a tired child off the spinning ride, the mercy of the One sets the soul down, safe.
What would it mean to trust the designer of the whole, even with the hard parts?
