The Ocean Is Crossed by Singing, Not Struggling

Seek the Shelter of the One All-powerful Lord; there is no other place of rest.

mahaa bha-ojal langhee-ai sadaa har gun gaa-o. ||2||
The vast and terrifying world-ocean is crossed over, singing continually the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Seek the shelter of the One All-powerful Lord; there is no other place of rest.

The vast, terrifying world-ocean is crossed by singing continually the One's praises.

There is no other resting place — and the ocean is crossed by singing, not struggling.
The deeper layer

There is "no other place of rest" but the One's shelter, and the "vast and terrifying world-ocean" is crossed not by struggle but "singing continually the Glorious Praises." Praise is the crossing; shelter is the only rest.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you finally find rest, and what carries you through the hard crossings?
