Those whom no one knew, and those whom no one respected —
even they have become famous and respected at the Court of the One.
People the world ignored become honored where it really counts.
Ko-ay na jaanai ko-ay na maanai — no one knew them, and no one respected them. Say pargat har du-aaray — yet at the door of the One, they shine out and are honored.
Think of the kid who always gets picked last for the team. At the One's door, that same kid is welcomed first. The world's lists of who matters get turned upside down.
Guru Arjan says this in other shabads in this raag too. One tells of an unknown soul lifted into honor. Another says grace turns what was upside down the right way up.
Whose worth has the world overlooked that you suspect counts greatly elsewhere?
