One Soul Truly Saved Lifts Its Whole Family

janam bhavantay narak parhantay tinH kay kul uDhaaray. ||2||
Those who have wandered in reincarnation, and those who have been consigned to hell - even their families have been redeemed. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Some wandered from birth to birth. Some were sent to hell.

Even their families have been set free.

One soul truly saved can lift its whole family with it.
The deeper layer

When one person is truly saved, the good spills over to their whole family.

Guru Arjan speaks of people who janam bhavantay, wandered from one birth to the next. He speaks of people who fell into narak, a place of great suffering often called hell. Tin kay kul uDhaaray — even their kul, their families, are lifted up and saved.

Think of one candle lighting the others around it. The first flame does not get smaller, and soon the whole room is bright. One soul truly saved lifts its whole household. A shabad of Guru Nanak in this raag says the same, about a soul who brings her family along with her.

Grace does not stop with one person. It overflows.

A Question to Sit With

How might one person's transformation ripple out to those around them?
