Sikhism·Raag Aasaa·Shabad 238
Verse 3 of 4

When the One Is Your Single Desire, Nothing Else Pleases

ਏਕਹਿ ਆਸਾ ਦਰਸ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਆਨ ਨ ਭਾਵੇ ॥੨॥
aykeh aasaa daras pi-aasaa aan na bhaavay. ||2||
They place their hopes in Him, and they thirst for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. Nothing else is pleasing to them. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

They place their hopes in Him, and thirst for the sight of Him;

nothing else is pleasing to them.

When the One is your single desire, nothing else can quite please you.
The deeper layer

The Saints' single-mindedness: hope placed in Him alone, thirsting for His Darshan, with "nothing else... pleasing to them." Once the Beloved is the one desire, all other delights simply lose their savor (cf. Shabad 234).

A Question to Sit With

Is there something so central to you that, having it, nothing else compares?
