One moment fearful, the next fearless; in a moment he rises and departs.
One moment he enjoys pleasures, the next he leaves and is gone.
Every state flickers and passes — which is why none of them can be your resting place.
The flux of states: fear and fearlessness, pleasure and departure, all changing "moment" by "moment." Human experience is restless, never holding still — which is exactly why it cannot be the soul's resting place. Everything here flickers and passes.
