He climbs down the dangerous cliff to bathe in the cleansing pool; without a word spoken, he sings the praises of the One.
Like mist hanging in the sky, he stays absorbed in the One.
He churns the true joys and draws out the supreme nectar.
Guru Nanak takes the hard journeys some yogis made and shows that the real journey happens inside.
Yogis were seekers who left home to find the One through hard training of the body. Some climbed down steep cliffs to bathe in holy pools. Guru Nanak says the real steep path goes down inside you. The real bath is there too.
Bakai na bolai har gun gaavai — without saying a word, he sings the One's praises. The song is in the heart, not the mouth. Jal aakaasee sunn samaavai — like water turned to mist in the sky, he stays soaked in the One. Think of a puddle on a hot day. It rises into the air and seems to vanish. It is still water, just everywhere now.
Then comes churning. Like churning milk until the butter appears, he churns what is true and draws out the finest nectar.
What is the difference between an outer ritual and the inner reality it points to?
