O my great One, deeper than anyone can ever reach, You are an ocean of everything good.
No one knows how far You stretch.
The One is not only big. The One is deep, with no bottom at all.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line. It is the center of the shabad, the line you come back to. The picture is an ocean. Gahir gambheeraa gunee gaheeraa — deep beyond reach, an ocean full of every good thing.
Here is the key idea. An ocean is not special just because it is wide. It is special because you can never stand on its floor. Think of diving in a swimming pool. You can always touch the bottom. Now picture water that goes down and down and never ends. That is what "deep" means here: you can never use it all up. Everything the rest of the shabad says about trying to measure the One rests on this one picture.
