Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The Gurmukh obtains wisdom, meditation, and satisfaction of mind.
The Gurmukh realizes the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
The Gurmukh is attuned to the Word, and wears it as his badge.
The one who turns toward the Guru is given wisdom, peace, and a mark to be known by.
This verse is a picture of the Gurmukh, the person whose life faces the Guru. Gurmukh gi-aan Dhi-aan man maan — the Gurmukh gains wisdom, a mind fixed on the One, and a heart that is satisfied. Next, the Gurmukh comes to know the mahal, the palace of the One's Presence. Last, the Gurmukh is tuned to the Shabad, the Guru's Word, as a neesaan. A neesaan is a mark or badge.
Think of a team jersey. You can tell who belongs to which team by what they wear. The Gurmukh wears the Word like that. It is the mark people know them by.
