Like Reaches Like: Only Truth Arrives at the True

ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ਕੂੜਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sach milai sachiaar koorh na paa-ee-ai.
Through Truth, one meets the True One; He is not obtained through falsehood.
ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਆਈਐ ॥੨॥
sachay si-o chit laa-ay bahurh na aa-ee-ai. ||2||
Centering your consciousness on the True Lord, you shall not have to come into the world again. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

It is through Truth that you meet the True One — He is never reached through falsehood.

Fix your consciousness on the True Lord, and you will not have to come into the world again.

Like reaches like: only truth arrives at the True.
The deeper layer

This one says that only truth can reach the True One.

sach milai sachiaar — through truth, you meet the True One. koorh na paa-ee-ai — you cannot reach Him through lies.

It works like this: like reaches like. Truth in what you say, in how you live, and in what you really mean leads to the True One. A clever lie can never get there. Think of a fish trying to fly to the moon. It is in the wrong place from the start.

So here Sach, Truth, is a road, not just a statement. Being honest is not a decoration on the path. It is what the path is made of. Keep your mind on the True One, the verse says, and you will not have to come into the world again.

A Question to Sit With

Is there a place in your life where you are not quite living true — and what would one honest step look like?
