Verse 3 of 9

You Can't Schedule the Merging, Only Keep Walking

ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸਚੁ ਤਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਈ ॥
aap milaavai sach taa man bhaav-ee.
The True Lord blends us with Himself, when it is pleasing to His Mind.
ਚਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਜਾਇ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਵਈ ॥੨॥
chalai sadaa rajaa-ay ank samaava-ee. ||2||
One who ever walks in accordance with His Will, merges into His Being. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The True Lord blends us into Himself when it pleases His Mind.

And one who walks always in step with His Will merges into His very Being.

You cannot schedule the merging — but you can keep walking in step until it comes.
The deeper layer

You cannot put the day you meet the One on a calendar. You can only keep walking.

The verse has two halves, in the right order. First, the joining is the One's act, whenever it pleases Him. We cannot make it happen from our side.

Second, it describes the person it happens to. That person walks with the Will, step by step, every day. The Will here is Hukam, the flow of existence. Walking with it does not force the meeting. It is what being ready looks like while grace picks the hour.

Think of a stream and a river. The stream cannot order the river to take it in. But it can keep flowing toward the river.

A Question to Sit With

What does walking in step with life's flow look like on an ordinary school-day morning?
