The Surrendered Mind Has No Price Tag

ਸਾਈ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵਣੀ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥

Do those deeds which the Primal Lord has ordered for you.

jay man satgur day milai kin keemat paa-ee. ||7||
If one surrenders his mind upon meeting the True Guru, who can estimate its value? ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Do the deeds the Primal Lord has ordained for you.

One who surrenders his mind upon meeting the True Guru — who can put a price on that?

The surrendered mind has no price tag — no scale was ever built for it.
The deeper layer

After all the talk of giving yourself up, the verse gives a simple job: do the work in front of you.

"Do those deeds which the Primal Lord has ordered for you." These are not amazing feats. They are the everyday duties actually in front of you, done as a task from the One. Think of a player who simply guards their position well, game after game. Gurbani likes this quiet kind of faithfulness. A surrendered life looks like doing your own part well.

Then comes the question of value. The mind given over to the Guru is worth more than anyone can count. The world puts a price on everything. This is the one thing that breaks the scale. It gets us ready for the jewel-tester in the last verse.

A Question to Sit With

What is the work actually in front of you — and what changes if you treat it as given to you?
