One Rooted Heart Carries a Whole Family Across

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥
gur sayvaa tay sabh kul uDhaaray.
Serving the Guru, all of one's generations are saved.
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
nirmal naam rakhai ur Dhaaray.
Keep the Immaculate Naam enshrined within your heart.
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੬॥
saachee sobhaa saach du-aaray. ||6||
In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be adorned with True Glory. ||6||

In plain words

Serving the Guru, all your generations are carried across.

Keep the Immaculate Name enshrined in your heart —

and true glory will be yours at the true Door.

One rooted heart can carry a whole family tree across.
The deeper layer

When one person in a family truly serves, the goodness spreads through the whole family.

Gur sayvaa tay sabh kul uDhaaray — by serving the Guru, the whole family line is carried across. That means the generations before and after. This is not magic bookkeeping. It is how goodness really spreads.

Picture one person in a family who serves and keeps the Name in their heart. The children watch and learn. The elders grow softer. The grandchildren inherit a direction. Like water drawn up from one deep root through a whole tree, the rescue travels both ways along the branches.

The verse ends with glory. Many people chase a false glory, a reputation that is only for show. The verse offers saachee sobhaa, true glory. It is given at the one true Door, where the final word is spoken.

A Question to Sit With

Who in your family shaped what everyone after them became — and what are you planting for those after you?
