True Action Pours From What Fills the Mind

Those whose minds are filled with the True Lord, perform truthful actions.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਹਜ ਸਿਉ ਸਚੇ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
an-din sayveh sahj si-o sachay maahi samaa-ay. ||3||
Night and day, they serve the Lord with poise, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those whose minds the True One fills — their work in the world becomes true.

Night and day they serve with effortless poise, absorbed in the True One.

True action is not decided — it pours from what fills the mind, tasting of its source.
The deeper layer

Good actions pour out of what fills the mind.

This verse shows how the inside and the outside connect. "Those whose minds are filled with the True Lord, perform truthful actions." Truth living in the mind flows out as true deeds.

Being honest and good is not built one choice at a time. It pours from what lives in the heart. Think of water from a spring. It tastes of the rocks it comes from.

The way it pours matters too. Sahj si-o means with easy, natural calm. Guru Amar Das loves this word. The service does not strain, because it is not fighting itself. A life soaked in the One does good the way an apple tree grows apples: all the time, quietly, in its season.

A Question to Sit With

When you act well without effort, what is filling you in that moment?
