Doubt Shops Among Alternatives; There Is Only One

The True Lord is the One and only; do not be deluded by doubt, O my mind.

gur poochh sayvaa karahi sach nirmal man vasaahi. ||5||
Consult with the Guru, serve the True Lord, and enshrine the Immaculate Truth within your mind. ||5||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The True Master is One and only One — O my mind, do not be misled by doubt.

Ask the Guru, and serve accordingly; enshrine the pure Truth in your mind.

Doubt shops among alternatives — and there is only One; when unsure, ask the one who knows the road.
The deeper layer

Doubt wanders between choices, but there is only One.

The verse speaks straight to the mind: mat man bharam bhulaahi, "O my mind, do not be led astray by doubt." Then it gives the one fact that ends the wandering. The True Master is One.

Doubt needs choices to jump between. Think of a store full of fake brands. It only works if shoppers think there might be many "real" ones to compare.

The advice that follows is humble. Gur poochh means "ask the Guru." Do not try to solve every deep question alone. When you are lost, ask someone who knows the road, the way you would ask a guide on a hike. Then walk as they say. Let the pure Truth take the seat where doubt used to sit.

A Question to Sit With

When you are genuinely confused, whom do you ask — and do you actually follow what they say?
