In plain words

The Gurmukh sows Truth, and Truth is what sprouts; he deals in the True Name alone.

Those He joins to this profitable trade are granted the treasury of devotion.

Sow Truth and Truth is what comes up — the field of life is honest.
The deeper layer

Plant truth, and truth is what grows.

Raag Aasaa loves two pictures of work: farming and trading. Here they meet in one verse. Beejay sach jamai sach — sow Truth, and Truth sprouts. The field of life is honest. Whoever plants a true seed does not harvest something else. Think of planting a sunflower seed. You never get a weed from it.

The trade is just as sure. The Gurmukh, the one who faces the Guru, deals only in the Name. This raag has already promised that the Name is the one kind of goods that fire, flood, and thieves cannot take.

And who gets hired? Jo it laahai laa-i-an — those whom He sets to this good trade. It is grace that joins them to it, and they are given the treasure of devotion. Even a job in this true business is a gift.

A Question to Sit With

What are you sowing these days — in your habits, words, friendships — and what is sprouting?
