Carry the Right Cargo and End in Homecoming

ਵਖਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਦਿ ਖੇਪ ਚਲਾਵਹੁ ॥
vakhar naam lad khayp chalaavahu.
So load the merchandise of the Naam, and set sail with your cargo.
ਲੈ ਲਾਹਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ॥੬॥
lai laahaa gurmukh ghar aavhu. ||6||
Earn your profit, as Gurmukh, and you shall return to your own home. ||6||

In plain words

So load up your ship, my friends! Fill it with the Name, the finest cargo there is, and sail. Trade well and honestly, and you'll come sailing home again with everything you hoped to gain.

Carry the right cargo through your life, and the voyage ends in homecoming, not exile.
The deeper layer

The city sits by water, and the verse sends us to sea: vakhar naam lad khep chalaavahu — load the merchandise of the Name and set your cargo sailing. Then the tender promise: lai laahaa gurmukh ghar aavhu — earn your profit and return to your own home. The journey of a whole life is pictured as a trading voyage that ends not in exile but in homecoming. The 'profit' isn't taken from anyone; it's the fullness you built by carrying the right cargo. And the destination is ghar — home — the deepest word for arrival: not somewhere new and strange, but the place you always belonged, reached at last.

A Question to Sit With

What is worth 'carrying' through your whole life so you arrive home full?
