In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I meditate on the Lord, Har, Har; my lifestyle is pure and true. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My mind has fallen in love with the One. Truly, deeply in love.

And in the good company of people who remember together, that love stays clean and clear and real.

Love for what's real stays clearest when it's kept in good company.
The deeper layer

The Pause sets the whole mood: mere man har si-o laagee preet — my mind has fallen in love. Not decided, not calculated — fallen. And the second line names where that love is kept fresh: saadhsang — the company of others who are turning toward the same thing. Love needs company to stay clean; sung and remembered together, it becomes a reet, a way of living, rather than a passing feeling. The hymn's argument, made warmly, is that the heart's love and good company hold each other up.

A Question to Sit With

Who are the people who help your best feelings stay clear and strong?
