O Nanak, the Divine City is eternal. ||8||1||

In plain words

And who gets to live in this shining city? Anyone who serves with a whole and honest heart. This is a city that will never be shaken, never fall, never fade. It stands forever.

The one city that can never be shaken is the heart made whole — and its gate is open to anyone.
The deeper layer

The hymn closes by naming its city at last: abichal nagree — the Unshakable, Eternal City. Everything mortal is temporary; the one dwelling that cannot be moved is this inner city built of virtue, wisdom, and the Name. And the door is open to whoever serves with a full heart — jis gur pooraa sev — not to the powerful or the born-lucky, but to anyone who gives themselves wholly. 'Abichal Nagri' later became a real place-name in Sikh tradition (an epithet for Hazur Sahib), but its first home is here: the deathless city is not on any map. It is the settled, unshakeable heart.

A Question to Sit With

What in you feels steady and unshakeable, no matter what changes around you?
