My home is ringing with songs of joy — my dearest Friend has finally come! I gave my whole heart, and won that heart in return.
Right here, inside my own self, I found the sweetest fruit there is. You can't reach this by being clever or reciting the right words — only love opens the way. The One is my very best friend, and knowing that, I feel like the most fortunate person alive.
The Chhant's radiant finish. Ghari mangal — the home rings with songs of joy; the Friend has come. And the deepest teaching of the whole song lands in two lines. First: ghar hee mahi amrit fal paa-i-aa — the ambrosial fruit was found within the home of my own self, not somewhere far away. Second, the line the whole poem was built to deliver: bidhi na paa-i-aa... bhaae milai man bhaay — the One is not reached by recitation or cleverness; only by love. All the study in the world can't buy this; love can. The soul ends not proud but amazed at its own good fortune — ham naahee(n) ke-oo(n) jee-o — 'I am no ordinary person,' meaning: befriended by the One, how lucky am I!
What is something you can only reach through love, never through being clever?
