My mind, my mind is attuned to the Love of my Beloved Lord.

He is the Lord, from the beginning, throughout the ages, now and forevermore; know that all else is false.

karam Dharam kee saar na jaanai surat mukat ki-o paa-ee-ai.
If one does not appreciate the value of good deeds and Dharmic faith, how can one obtain clarity of consciousness and liberation?

naanak gurmukh sabad pachhaanai ahinis naam Dhi-aa-ee-ai. ||1||
O Nanak, the Gurmukh realizes the Word of the Shabad; night and day, he meditates on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

In plain words

My heart, my heart is tuned to the love of the One — the endless, steady support underneath the whole world.

That One was here before the beginning, is here now, and will always be here; everything else comes and goes.

One thing was here before everything and will outlast everything — everything else is just passing through.
The deeper layer

This shabad (and the next) repeats man mayraa, man mayraa — 'my mind, my mind' — like a heart saying the thing twice because it means it. The One is named as the support of the earth (aadhaar), unfathomable, unapproachable, infinite — and, crucially, permanent: here from the beginning, through the ages, now and forever, while all else is false (meaning: passing, not lasting). The verse gently notes that clarity and freedom come to those who value good deeds and living rightly. The Gurmukh's whole practice is simple and constant: day and night, remember the Name.

A Question to Sit With

What is one thing you're pretty sure will always matter, no matter what changes?
