You can make beautiful music and say all the right holy words — but if the heart isn't sincere, it rings hollow.
What truly shines is a genuine heart. The One sees straight through to what's really inside.
This is the shabad's sharpest and most important teaching, and it's wonderfully clear for a child: some sing through ragas and the Vedas in so many ways — but the One is not pleased by these if the heart is false. Outward performance, however skilled, doesn't move the One when inside there is fraud. Why? Because the Creator knows everything, sees straight through any show. This isn't against music or learning (this is a raag, sung!); it's against pretending. What actually reaches the One is a pure heart — sincerity, not performance. Being real beats being impressive, every time, because the One is looking at the inside.
Why do you think being genuine matters more than looking good on the outside?
