In plain words

When a life of goodness spreads out like a climbing vine, the fruit it grows is the Name of the One.

That Name has no shape you could draw — it hums in a sound that no instrument makes, a sound that was never struck. Through the Word, the stainless One shows itself.

A good life grows like a vine, and its fruit is a Name with no shape — a music no instrument makes.
The deeper layer

A good life grows like a vine, and its fruit is the Name.

Karam kartoot bayl bisthaaree — good actions and good character spread out like a bayl, a climbing vine. Raam naam fal hoo-aa — and the fruit it grows is the Name of the One.

Think of a grape vine climbing up a fence in the garden. You see the leaves and branches spread out. Then the fruit comes. Here, the kind things we do each day are the vine. The Name is the fruit.

But this fruit is special. Tis roop naraykh — it has no shape or outline you could draw. Anaahad vaajai — it hums as the Anhad Shabad, a sound no instrument makes. So a good life you can see grows a fruit you cannot see or hear with your ears. Being good and knowing the One are one single plant.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of someone whose goodness seems to "grow" naturally, like a plant, rather than being forced?
