Not Knowing Your Worth, You Grasp Outside

The mortal does not break free from the bonds of the noose of Maya, and he does not seek the shelter of the profound, absolute Lord.

He does not realize the dignity of the self, and Nirvaanaa; because of this, his doubt does not depart. ||2||

In plain words

So many of us stay tangled in the glittering things and never look for the deeper shelter.

We don't yet see our own true worth — and so the worry and doubt keep hanging around.

When you don't know your own deep worth, you keep grasping outside for it — and the worry never lifts.
The deeper layer

Kabir names the ordinary human tangle: the mortal does not break free from the noose of Maya (the glitter) and does not seek the shelter of the One. And his diagnosis of why the doubt won't leave is beautiful and gentle: he does not realize the dignity of the self — we don't yet see our own deep worth, the light within us. When you don't know your own value, you keep grasping outside for it, and the anxiety never quite lifts. The cure isn't to grasp harder; it's to recognize the dignity that was already yours. Doubt fades when you finally know what you're worth.

A Question to Sit With

What might change if you truly believed you already had worth and dignity inside you?
