She, upon whom He casts His Glance of Grace, becomes the happy soul-bride. ||4||10||

In plain words

Says Nanak: that One alone is the Beloved of every soul.

The one He looks upon with grace becomes the joyful bride.

Every soul is the bride; grace is what makes the bride glad.
The deeper layer

This one says every soul is the bride, and grace makes her glad.

Bhanat naanak sabhnaa kaa pir ayko so-ay — "Nanak says, the One alone is the Husband of all." Every soul, whoever they are, is the bride. The bride picture is a way of speaking, not a claim about being a boy or a girl.

Jis no nadar karay saa sohagan ho-ay — the one He looks on with grace becomes the happy bride. Nadar is the One's kind glance of grace. What makes a soul happy is not her own effort, but that glance. Longing starts the journey, and grace finishes it. Think of a shy kid at the edge of the playground, until a friend waves them over.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between being noticed and being truly cherished?
