In plain words

All the scriptures and their countless secrets, and bathing at the sixty-eight holy places —

every bit of it is found by enshrining the One's essence in the heart.

The Gurmukhs are spotless; no filth clings to them. Says Nanak, the Name lives in the heart by the deepest destiny of all.

Every holy place and every scripture is gathered into one thing: the Name kept in the heart.
The deeper layer

All of outer religion — scripture-mastery and the sixty-eight tiraths (pilgrimage sites) — is internalized: the whole harvest is gathered by "enshrining the sublime essence of the Lord in the heart." This is Nanak's signature move (cf. Japji's inner pilgrimage). The heart is the real holy place; everything the pilgrim seeks abroad is already available within.

A Question to Sit With

If the most sacred place were inside you, how would you tend it?
