In plain words

Bowing low, again and again, I fall at my Guru's feet; through the Guru I have seen the One, the very Self, within me.

Through reflection and meditation, the One comes to live in the heart — see this for yourself, and understand.

Through the Guru you can see the One living inside you, as your own deepest self.
The deeper layer

The destination is interior and personal: "I have seen the Lord, the Divine Self, within." Not a vision of something far off, but the recognition of the One as one's own deepest Self. And the verb is insistent — "see this, and understand": Nanak wants experience, not belief on his say-so.

A Question to Sit With

What is the difference between believing something and seeing it for yourself?
