Saying the Name Lights Up What Dark Had Hidden

ਬੋਲਹੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥

So speak the Lord's Name, which shall emancipate you.

By Guru's Grace, the jewel of the Lord is found; ignorance is dispelled, and the Divine Light shines forth. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So say the Name of the One — it will set you free.

By grace the jewel of the One is found; the dark of not-knowing lifts, and a light shines out.

Saying the Name lights up what the dark had hidden.
The deeper layer

The Pause promises liberation through the Name — but the next pauri will immediately guard against misunderstanding how. For now: the Name reveals a "jewel," and "ignorance is dispelled, the Divine Light shines forth." Knowing here is light, not information.

A Question to Sit With

What has "clicked" for you in a way that felt like a light turning on?
