In plain words

Seconds, minutes, and hours, days, months, and seasons all flow from a single sun.

In the same way, says Nanak, every form there is flows from the One Creator.

All the world's variety flows from one source, the way every hour flows from one sun.
The deeper layer

This one says that all the variety in the world comes from one Source, the way all our hours come from one sun.

Guru Nanak lists the ways we measure time. Visu-ay chasi-aa gharhee-aa pahraa are old Indian words for small and large pieces of a day, like seconds, minutes, and hours. Then come days, weekdays, and months. Sooraj ayko rut anayk means "one sun, many seasons."

Think about it. Every clock, calendar, and birthday is really counting the turning of the earth around one sun. Without the sun, there would be no mornings, no Mondays, and no summer.

Naanak kartay kay kaytay vays means "so many are the forms of the Creator." All the different things in the world are real. But they all flow from one Source, just as every hour flows from one sun.

A Question to Sit With

What is one source that many different things in your life all flow from?
