Some Blindness Is a Refusal to See

Even though the fool may be taught again and again, he remains the blindest of the blind. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Without the Name, the world churns in turmoil.

You can teach a fool over and over, and he stays the blindest of the blind.

Some blindness isn't a lack of facts — it's a refusal to see.
The deeper layer

This is the "pause" line, the rahaa-o — the center of the shabad. It names the root of all the trouble.

Har kay naam binaa jag DhanDhaa — without the Name of the One, the world is a tangle of busy trouble. The Naam, the Name, means remembering the One and living close to the One.

Then a hard truth. You can explain things to a stubborn person again and again, and they still stay anDho anDhaa — the blindest of the blind. Some blindness is not about missing facts. It is about not wanting to see. Think of someone holding their hands over their eyes. A brighter light will not help until they lower their hands. More teaching alone cannot help a heart that will not turn.

A Question to Sit With

Why do you think simply being told something again and again often isn't enough to change someone?
