It is greedy, sly, full of wrongdoing and pretending, and stuck fast to the pull of things.
Honest self-knowledge — naming where you fall short — is the start of any real change.
An unflinching self-inventory: the soul "does not stay held by the Merciful Lord," being "greedy, deceitful, sinful and hypocritical." Nanak models honesty about one's own condition rather than flattering self-talk. You cannot heal what you will not name; the Pause names it plainly (cf. Shabad 34's unpretending prayer).
