When the soul is trapped, prays Nanak, it is called to account. ||4||1||34||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When the soul is caught, those five companions will all start wailing.

And then, prays Nanak, the soul is called to account.

The voices that egg you on now won't be there to answer for you later.
The deeper layer

At the end, the five companions "lament" — they cannot follow where the soul goes; their loud companionship turns out to be useless at the threshold. And the soul "is called to account." This is not a threat so much as a clarifying truth: live now in a way you would not dread answering for, because the five who urged you on will not be there to answer with you.

A Question to Sit With

If you had to give an honest account of a day, what would you want it to show?
