The Perfect One naturally hands the cup of Truth to the one it looks upon with grace.
And whoever deals in this Nectar — how could they ever crave the cheap wine of the world?
Once you taste the real Nectar, the cheap copies lose their pull.
The cup is given, not grabbed. Tiseh pee-aa-ay jaa ka-o nadar karay — the One gives it to those it looks on with grace. Nadar means the One's kind glance.
Amrit kaa vaapaaree hovai — whoever trades in this Nectar, how could they ever love the cheap wine of the world? An earlier shabad in Raag Aasaa pictures the world's illusion, Maya, as a sweet wine the mind gulps down. Here it is the opposite. The soul has found the real thing, and the fake no longer tempts.
Think of tasting a real, ripe strawberry after only ever eating strawberry candy. The candy is just not the same anymore. The cure for a bad kind of intoxication is a better, real one.
What good thing, once you found it, made a lesser thing stop tempting you?
