Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Through the Guru's Word, the body grows calm and at peace.
The one who follows it is not crushed by pain, and even death cannot come near.
Says Nanak: such a soul melts into the True One.
The soul already at home in the One has nothing left for death to threaten.
The Shabad's effect reaches even the body — "peace and tranquility." The Gurmukh is "not afflicted by pain," and "the Messenger of Death does not come near" — the fearlessness of jeevat marnaa, the soul already merged having nothing left for death to threaten. The arc ends in absorption: melting into the True One.
